Strategies for the removal of short-term indwelling urethral catheters in adults

Best practice, Systematic review
Abstract:
This systematic review undertook to determine the best strategies for the removal of short-term indwelling urethral catheters with best outcome for patients. Although the main outcome of interest was the number of patients who required recatheterisation, limiting how long a catheter was left in place was also linked to shorter stay in hospital and less risk of infection.
