Abstract:
AGREE stands for 'Appraisal of Guidelines Research and Evaluation'. It originates from an international collaboration of researchers and policy makers who work together to improve the quality and effectiveness of clinical practice guidelines by establishing a shared framework for their development, reporting and assessment. It is now an evaluation method used in Europe for assessing the methodological quality of clinical practice guidelines. Guidelines used to inform the new epic2 guidance were retrieved and critically appraised using the Agree Instrument. The website gives access to the AGREE instrument and a training manual as well as other useful sites such as an electronic library for guideline developers and comparison of guideline development programmes
