The World Health Organization (WHO) today released a roadmap that outlines its goals and objectives for the enhanced control, prevention, elimination and eradication of neglected tropical diseases. Accelerating work to overcome the global impact of neglected tropical diseases – A roadmap for implementation builds on the success of WHO’s integrated approach for controlling these devastating diseases of poverty and the steady progress achieved since 2005. Despite remaining obstacles and challenges, the targets set out in the roadmap are ambitious but realistic.
