Expanding the list of 'never events'
Consultation
Abstract:
'Never events' are very serious, largely preventable patient safety incidents that should not occur if the relevant preventative measures have been put in place – they are things that should never happen to patients in NHS care The Government proposed in the recent White Paper to expand the current list of incidents that are considered to be 'never events' and to allow cost recovery when these 'never events' occur. The purpose of this paper is to engage external partners and seek comments and suggestions on the draft list of events and on the framework for recovering costs when they occur
