Hygiene in the home: good bugs, bad bugs and superbugs

Factsheet
Abstract:
We often read about how some microbes are good or beneficial, whilst others are bad or harmful. The reality is not quite so simple. This briefing document gives an overview of microbes which are found in the home and their potential to benefit us, or cause harm through infectious disease. This briefing material has been produced for those who work in healthcare professions, the media and others who are looking for background understanding and/or those who are responsible for informing the public about infectious diseases in the home and their prevention through good hygiene practice.
