Liberating the NHS: managing the transition and timeline

NHS Chief Executive Sir David Nicholson has written to the chief executive community setting out plans to lead the implementation of Liberating the NHS. As the NHS moves at pace to make the Government's vision a reality, it is vital that it continues to deliver on quality, finance and performance, as well as make the required productivity savings of £15-20 billion. This first communication sets out the initial steps that are being taken at a national level to ensure the NHS continues to deliver for today whilst designing a new system for tomorrow.
