Abstract: 
The publication is based on the 1998 national working party of the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Hospital Infection Society and Infection Control Nurses Assocciation recommendations to control MRSA in hospitals. The organism and how it spreads is explained and standard infection control precautions to prevent transmission are outlined. Hand hygiene and hand drying technique are included and additional infection control precautions explained. There is a section on the importance of communications and a brief introduction to infection control and care in the communit plus issues of staff health
